Where do we even start?!

A few years ago, we purchased 4 chickens; the summer after we bought our house in Benton, PA.  Fast forward to present day and we have 75 (we think) chickens, mini horses, goats, turkeys, rabbits, ducks, geese, cats, etc.  And... most of them are rescues!  We decided early on (after the chicken purchase) that the animals were therapy for our son on the spectrum... this evolved into a full-blown farm animal rescue "hobby farm".  We have saved 2 mini horses from a kill farm and/or terrible living situation, several unwanted chickens and rabbits, and 15 goats from slaughter.  Stick with us...

To earn some money to support our rescue animals, we decided to start creating Blind Dates with a Book.  We started small at a local business, and it became wildly popular!  So much so that we could not keep up throughout the 2024 Christmas season! 

We then began to toss around the idea of a brick-and-mortar store.  We experienced a job layoff in early December, while the Blind Dates took off, (and, not knowing when a return to work was happening) we decided to consider a store as supplemental income for the farm.  We found a location in town, tossed around some ideas, and boom!  RWF Used Books and Creations was born! 

The rescue farm, and bookshop, has been a DREAM come true for us!  The animals are no longer just therapy for our son, but also for the rest of us.  The shop is a reprieve from the day-to-day careers that we both hold.   Morgan is an HR Manager.... and boy, is HR tough!  She enjoys being at the shop, reading books, recommending books, and interacting with the customers.  Wade is an Electrician and enjoys being the "silent partner"...occasionally working at the shop, being the muscle (and sometimes the brain) behind the ideas, and also enjoys reading the various books that come through!   The kids (boy 12, girl 10) enjoy working at the shop, entertaining customers, and being able to explore our little town when the parents are working at the shop!  

We have met so many fascinating people since opening in May, and we look forward to many shop years to come!
